Stump Grinding & Stump Removal in Fort Worth, TX

Reclaim your yard. We grind stumps below grade and leave the spot ready for grass, garden, or a brand-new tree.

A leftover stump is more than an eyesore. It's a mower obstacle, a trip hazard, a termite and carpenter-ant invitation, and — as the roots decay — a source of soft spots and sprouting suckers across your lawn. Every year it sits there, it costs you a little more usable yard.

DFW Tree Guys grinds stumps of any size, from ornamental leftovers to massive old-growth trunks, using professional grinders that chew the stump down well below grade. The grindings can backfill the hole or be hauled off, leaving you a clean, level spot ready for sod, flower beds, or a replacement tree.

Grinding is faster, cheaper, and far less destructive than digging a stump out — no crater, no torn-up lawn, no heavy excavation across your yard. In most cases we're in and out the same day, and the stump is gone for good.

What's Included

  • Grinding of stumps of any size and species, ground well below grade
  • Surface root grinding for roots that heave lawns and sidewalks
  • Backfill with grindings or complete haul-off — your choice
  • Multiple-stump discounts for clearing several at once
  • Access-conscious equipment that's gentle on gates, lawns, and irrigation
  • Site raked and cleaned, ready for replanting

How It Works

  1. Quick quote. Tell us the stump's rough diameter or send a photo — we can usually price it on the spot.
  2. Utility check. We verify what's below before grinding near lines and irrigation.
  3. Grind below grade. The stump and major surface roots are ground down so nothing regrows.
  4. Finish the site. Backfill and level, or haul off the grindings — either way, the spot is ready to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?

Grinding shreds the stump below ground level and leaves the deep roots to decay naturally — fast, clean, and affordable. Full removal excavates the root ball, which is invasive and rarely necessary. For nearly every residential situation, grinding is the smarter choice.

How deep do you grind?

Deep enough below grade to replant grass and landscaping over the spot, with deeper grinds available when you're planning to replant a tree or pour concrete in the same location.

Will the tree grow back after grinding?

No. Grinding destroys the growth point of the stump. A few species can send up sprouts from remaining roots for a season, and those are easily managed as the roots die off.

Can you get a grinder into my backyard?

Almost always. We have equipment sized for standard gates and tight side yards, and we protect lawns and irrigation along the way. If access is unusual, mention it and we'll bring the right machine.

What happens to the wood chips?

Your choice: we can backfill the hole with grindings (they settle as they compost), use them as mulch in your beds, or haul everything off and leave a clean, level site.

Serving both locations: White Settlement & West Fort Worth and Southlake & Northeast Tarrant County.
